Wildlife Gardening

Wildlife Gardening. What is it?

Simply that we proactively make decisions in our gardens that benefit and enhance the ability of wildlife to thrive. Our gardens, no matter how small or how urbanized they are, can play a huge role in helping British wildlife. As we further encroach on natural habitats through residential development and infrastructure projects, your very own patch of earth really can make a huge difference.

Why you should have a wildlife garden?

There are a number of incredible reasons to have a wildlife focused garden. A few we have listed below but there are so many more. One of the special reasons that I garden to attract more wildlife, is the free of charge front row seat to view nature at work! I get to observe and learn about so many of Britain's special creatures. And now you can too with some low impact changes. Your very own David Attenborough documentary awaits you!

Saving Wildlife

We’re losing our incredible wildlife at an alarming rate. Between 1970 and 2013, 56% of species in the UK declined. You can make a difference by providing much needed habitat and resources. There are plenty of fascinating schemes you can join, monitoring and recording wildlife levels before delivering crucial data to trusts and natural studies.

The Family Project

It's a great way to spend family time. The mental and physical benefits of outdoor activities for both adults and kids are well documented and plentiful. And whilst you may not fancy sifting through piles of twigs & leaves for new insect species alongside the more enthusiastic amongst you, the excitement of seeing your garden's first hedgehog doesn't diminish with age!

Natural Pest Control

Nature is one of the best forms of pest control you will find. Whether ladybirds eating aphids or frogs eating slugs & snails it's a win win for the prized dahlias! And even better, no harmful pesticides needed.

Time to Relax

Wild planting requires far less attention than formal gardens. Drifts of natural flowers look best almost on the verge of unkept. So leave the mower in the shed for a few weeks longer and sit back and enjoy the show.

Hedgehogs

The magic that the nations best loved spikey mammals can bring is immense. Not to mention the benefits they can bring to your garden such as keeping pesky slugs and snails at bay. Please ask about our hedgehog friendly design ideas and habitat creation.

Birds & Insects

There can be no better feeling than relaxing in the garden with a hot drink, listening to birds chirping and bees buzzing. Find out more on how we can design a garden that will be teeming with a wide variety of fauna.

 Wild Planting

Native and wild planting can look incredible in garden settings as well as providing habitat and feeding for wildlife. Ask about our natural planting schemes and just how rewarding they can be.

Pond Life

Ponds can add a huge diversity of wildlife to our gardens. From the animals and insects which visit ponds to drink and bathe, to the amphibians and fish that live within them. See how we can help design and create a whole new eco-system for you to explore.
